New Delhi: The BJP govt will upgrade court infrastructure by adding 200 more courtrooms to the district courts of Shastri Park, Karkardooma and Rohini, CM Rekha Gupta said on Tuesday.
Gupta said a budget provision of Rs 490 crore has been made to increase the number of courtrooms from 690 to 890. She added that manpower was being enhanced by hiring more personnel at the judicial officer level as well as court support staff.
BJP govt has also made an allocation of Rs 200 crore to set up hybrid courts. The expenditure finance committee has given its nod to a Rs 387 crore project to transform 691 district-level courts in the national capital into hybrid courts where in-person and virtual proceedings can happen.
Gupta said the law and justice department was working to increase the number of judges handling sensitive cases by setting up dedicated POCSO courts. She added that effort will be made to expedite trials against drug syndicates through special NDPS courts. “Rs 927 crore has been budgeted for judicial schemes,” she said. TNN
