New Delhi: A 49-year-old woman was arrested by the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch for drug trafficking. She was caught with 100 grams of high-quality heroin worth Rs 20 lakh in the international market, police said on Saturday.
The arrest was part of a crackdown on drug syndicates operating in Delhi-NCR. “The Cyber Cell received information about an interstate heroin supply network and launched a covert operation. A key supplier, Sachin (36), was arrested earlier with 601 grams of heroin. During his interrogation, he revealed the involvement of Vandana alias Pooja,” DCP (crime) Aditya Gautam said. To track Vandana, a special team was formed that used a combination of technical surveillance and manual intelligence to confirm her location in Bhopura, UP.
Further investigation is underway to identify other members of the syndicate.
