AC Blast Sparks Fire at Delhi’s Ashok Vihar Police Station; No Injuries Reported | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: A fire broke out at the Ashok Vihar police station in northwest Delhi on Wednesday morning following an explosion in a split air conditioner unit. The blaze, which started on the first floor, was brought under control within an hour but caused damage to official property and important documents.Delhi Fire Services(DFS) received a fire alert at 10.33 am. “Three fire tenders and a team of 16 firefighters were dispatched. The fire was brought under control by 11.20 am, with cooling operations continuing afterward,” said a DFS official. The fire originated in the office of the additional station house officer on the first floor of the four-storey building. Preliminary probe points to a malfunction in the AC unit, which reportedly exploded.“The blast caused the AC to melt onto nearby furniture, including a table and a bed, igniting a fire that quickly spread to documents, electronic appliances, and other items,” the official added. The room where the fire started had only one entry and exit point and lacked ventilation. “Smoke rapidly filled the room and adjacent corridor, significantly complicating firefighting efforts,” DFS said.No injuries were reported. An internal assessment is ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage.
