‘Bad character’ wanted criminal with 13 cases injured in encounter with Delhi Police in Dwarka | Delhi News – The Times of India

In Dwarka’s Jai Vihar, a wanted criminal named Akshay alias Golu, aged 30, sustained injuries during an encounter with the Delhi Police early Friday.

NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old wanted criminal, Akshay alias Golu, was injured in an encounter with the Delhi Police in the early hours of Friday in Dwarka’s Jai Vihar area, officials said.
Police said Akshay, a resident of Dharampura in Najafgarh and a listed “bad character” at the local police station, was wanted in a robbery case reported on April 17. He has 13 criminal cases against him, including robbery, snatching, theft, and Arms Act violations.
Around 5am, he was spotted near Jai Vihar Nala Road with a stolen motorcycle, a senior officer said. “When the police team asked him to surrender, he opened fire. Police retaliated, and a bullet hit his left leg,” the officer said.
While Akshay fired two rounds, the police responded with three. A pistol and two bullets were recovered from him. He has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Police added that Akshay had been subjected to preventive action 10 times, most recently on January 18 this year.
