Clerk held for raping woman under pretext of marriage | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: A 31-year-old clerk was arrested by Delhi Police for allegedly raping a woman he met through a matrimonial website under the false promise of marriage. The accused, Teekam, who works in the railways in Kolkata and hails from Rajasthan, was arrested on May 3 from a rented room in Siroli village, Rajasthan.The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the woman at the Mayapuri police station on Feb 1.In her statement, she alleged that Teekam established a physical relationship with her under the pretext of marrying her. However, he later refused to proceed with the marriage.Police said the accused had been on the run since the case was registered. Initial searches at his native village and workplace failed to locate him. Eventually, leads developed by the investigation team led to his arrest in Rajasthan. The accused is in police custody and further investigation is underway.
