
New Delhi: A 30-year-old man was brutally beaten with iron rods and fatally stabbed, while his younger brother sustained serious injuries, after a financial dispute escalated into a violent confrontation in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar on Thursday. The incident stemmed from an alleged debt of Rs 35,000.According to police, a PCR call was received at 11.18 pm on May 15, reporting an attack near Gali No. 3, Nangli Puna, close to the NDPL office. A police team rushed to the scene. A few hours later, at 1.30 am on May 16, police were informed by a hospital that one of the victims had been declared dead on arrival. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Munchun, a local resident. His 21-year-old brother, Mohammad Afsar, was also injured in the attack and suffered stab wounds to his hand.He is currently undergoing treatment, a police officer said.Preliminary probe revealed that the attack was the result of a dispute over Rs 35,000 that Munchun allegedly owed his co-workers. All individuals involved worked as labourers at a nearby rice bag factory.Based on Afsar’s statement, a case was registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Four of the accused — Rajesh (25), Arjun (30), Jagmohan alias Priyanshu alias Prince (24), and Sharvan (23) — were arrested. Two more suspects, identified as Rakesh and Lalu, are absconding, said police.
