New Delhi: A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death on Wednesday night while on his way to attend a wedding ceremony in Sultanpuri of Outer Delhi. Police said there was a scuffle between the man and one of the attackers the previous day. Three people were detained in connection with the murder and were being quizzed.
The deceased was identified as Suraj. Initial investigations revealed that Suraj and his family had a feud with some people living in Sultanpuri. Suraj was on his way to a wedding with a friend when a group of assailants allegedly attacked him with knives near the hospital. His friend rushed him to the hospital, but he could not be saved.
The deceased’s family held a protest and demanded immediate arrests.
Local residents claimed that there were multiple rounds of firing in the area later that night. Eyewitnesses said the gunmen claimed they were avenging the killing of a man.
Police officers are probing whether the murder was the result of a conflict between two groups over local dominance or if it was the result of personal enmity.
