NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has announced the closure of liquor shops on select days in the months of April, May, and June 2025 in observance of major religious festivals.
According to a recent notification issued by the Excise Department, three dry days have been declared for the month of April in the 2025-26 fiscal year. Liquor vends across the national capital will remain shut on Ram Navami (April 6), Mahavir Jayanti (April 10), and Good Friday (April 18).
In addition, two more dry days have been scheduled in the following months — Buddha Purnima on May 12 and Eid-ul-Zuha on June 6.
Dry days in first quarter of FY26:
Ram Navami (April 6)
Mahavir Jayanti (April 10)
Good Friday (April 18)
Buddha Purnima (May 12)
Eid-ul-Zuha (June 6)
The directive was issued in accordance with Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010.
The directive is part of the government’s standard practice of ensuring respectful observance of significant religious occasions by restricting the sale of alcohol on such days.
