Delhi HC upholds prosecution of club owners for serving liqour to minor | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: Delhi High Court has upheld the prosecution of the owners of two clubs in the city for allegedly selling liquor and hookah to minors and destroying evidence, including CCTV footage.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, in a recent order, said the accused being the owners of the clubs, were clearly responsible for ensuring these were not used for illegal activities.
“Their failure to prevent or report the serving of liquor and hookah to minors, the alleged destruction of evidence, and the omission to report the missing girls cannot be viewed as mere oversight,” HC said, pointing out that the girl was merely 13 years old.
The case unravelled when police lodged a complaint of kidnapping when the girl went missing in Oct 2019. Two months later, the minor, along with another 10-year-old girl, was rescued, and she deposed before a magistrate that she used to frequently visit the two clubs in the Netaji Subhash Place area.
The girl claimed she left her house and fled with her boyfriend as she was frequently scolded by her mother. The minor said her boyfriend took her to clubs where she met a bouncer who arranged her stay at a woman’s house. Police traced the woman’s mobile number, which facilitated the girl’s return to her home.
