Delhi police cyber cell arrests fugitive contractor for 2018 murder of employee | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Cyber Cell successfully tracked down and arrested Lakshman Prasad, a contractor accused of brutally murdering his employee, Ram Pravesh, in 2018. The victim was demanding his pending wages, but instead of receiving payment, he was stabbed to death by Lakshman Prasad and his nephew, Murari.
Ram Pravesh’s dying declaration named Lakshman Prasad and Murari as his killers. However, Prasad managed to evade arrest for seven years until the cyber cell finally apprehended him in Bihar.
The police were tracking Prasad’s digital footprints and gathering intelligence on his whereabouts. The breakthrough came when they received a tip about his location in Bihar, leading to his eventual arrest.
Prasad’s arrest brings some measure of closure to Ram Pravesh’s family, who have been seeking justice for years. On that fateful day in 2018, Pravesh’s pleas for payment fell on deaf ears. Instead, Prasad and his nephew, Murari, stabbed him to death in a premeditated attack. As Pravesh lay dying, he summoned the strength to name his killers in a heart-wrenching dying declaration.
An inquiry revealed that Prasad, a graduate from Bihar, was working as a contractor for Plaster of Paris (POP) work in Delhi. According to the police, in 2018, he was working in the Mandawali area of East Delhi, overseeing several daily wage earners, including Ram Pravesh.
Pravesh was persistently demanding his pending wages, which were not paid to him on time. This led to frequent confrontations and heated arguments between the deceased and the accused. The situation escalated over time, with Pravesh allegedly beginning to publicly confront and pressure Prasad for payment.
Feeling humiliated and angered by the repeated altercations, Lakshman Prasad conspired with his nephew.
