New Delhi: In separate acts of bravery, three men took matters into their own hands, successfully apprehending mobile phone thieves who had either stolen or snatched their devices.In the first incident, Sachin, a resident of Kasandi village in Sonipat, was targeted by thieves while sleeping at his workplace near Sundar Nagar, Najafgarh, around 3 am on May 12. The next morning, after reviewing CCTV footage, he identified a young man in a red T-shirt arriving on a black motorcycle, entering the stockyard, and leaving in the direction of Surakhpur.Determined to retrieve his phone, Sachin teamed up with his colleague, Sunil, to search the area. While riding through Surakhpur, they spotted two youths near a local cricket academy—one of whom matched the description from the footage. Upon confronting them, Sachin discovered one was holding his stolen phone.The situation escalated when one of the suspects pulled out a sharp iron object hidden under the motorcycle’s fuel tank and attempted to attack Sachin. Despite the danger, Sachin and Sunil managed to overpower both suspects and immediately alerted the police. Officers soon arrived and took the men into custody.In a second case, Raman Kumar, a 20-year-old resident of Munirka Village, pursued and caught one of three mobile phone snatchers on the night of May 14, near Ambedkar Chowk in southwest Delhi’s Kishangarh. Raman told police that he had stepped outside to make a call due to poor network coverage when three men approached him. One snatched his phone and attempted to flee with the others.Raman gave chase and managed to catch one of the culprits. When the remaining two tried to intervene and free their accomplice, Raman’s loud cries for help alerted his uncle, causing the suspects to flee. The apprehended thief was handed over to the police shortly after.In the third incident, Saidul Hasan, a 43-year-old resident of Old Mustafabad, caught one of three individuals who had stolen his mobile phone near Signature Bridge in the New Usmanpur area of northeast Delhi on May 6. Hasan was en route to Simachar Bridge around 4 p.m. when one of the suspects snatched his phone.The trio fled towards the Yamuna Khadar jungle. Refusing to let them escape, Hasan shouted “chor! chor!” to alert bystanders and gave chase. After a short pursuit, he managed to catch one of the thieves.
