Double murder in central Delhi linked to alleged affair, one held – The Times of India

New Delhi: Two men, including a history-sheeter, were murdered in central Delhi’s Nabi Karim on Saturday afternoon. According to police, the murder was allegedly driven by suspicions of an affair between one of the victims and the accused’s estranged wife. One suspect has been arrested.
The incident occurred around 2pm when a PCR call was received from Chinot Basti about two persons sustaining stab wounds. Both were taken to hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
The victims were identified as 33-year-old Ankit, a local welder, and 32-year-old Rahul, a history-sheeter with a criminal record at Nabi Karim police station.
Multiple police teams conducted raids and analysed CCTV footage from the area. Police said the suspect, Puneet, a 30-year-old man who works as an auto and e-rickshaw driver, was harbouring resentment towards Ankit over an alleged affair with his estranged wife. Puneet and Ankit were neighbours, and the tension between them reportedly built up for some time. Over a year ago, Puneet started living separately from his wife. They have two daughters.
Authorities said that during the quarrel, Rahul accompanied Puneet and got caught in the violence, ultimately leading to his death as well. “Rahul, who was present at the scene, became a victim of the violent altercation.”
