
New Delhi: A 34-year-old food delivery executive died after a car crashed into his bike after hitting a divider in the Hauz Khas area of south Delhi on Monday.
According to his family, he just completed a food delivery task and was about to clock out of his duty using a mobile app when the incident occurred. Police said it has apprehended the driver.
Police received information on Monday around 2 am about an accident near Dilip Singh Marg T-point. Upon arrival, they found a car that had crashed near the divider. An inquiry revealed that the driver, 20-year-old Chamanpreet Singh, a taxi driver from Lado Sarai, drove dangerously, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a bike-borne rider, Chandrahas Yadav, a delivery boy from Chirag Delhi, originally from Azamgarh, UP.
According to police, “Chandrahas was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival.” A case has been registered at Hauz Khas police station, and further investigation is on. Police said it has apprehended the driver of the offending vehicle.
The deceased’s cousin, Bechu Yadav, said that Chandrahas was the sole breadwinner of his family of six, comprising parents, wife, and three children. “He worked hard to ensure that his children received good education and got best opportunities in the city,” said Yadav,
With Chandrahas’s death, the future of his family looks bleak, said Yadav, adding, “He has been working as a delivery executive for over five years.”
