‘Have already spent Rs 80 lakh’: Bengaluru cop holds revolver at wife’s head, demands dowry | Bengaluru News – The Times of India

BENGALURU: A police sub-inspector has been booked for placing his service revolver at his wife’s head and threatening to shoot her if she did not bring dowry.
Chandra Layout have registered an FIR for attempt to murder, causing hurt using weapons and criminal intimidation, against Kishore, presently working at Dharmasthala police station, his parents Puttachennappa and Saraswatamma and brother-in-law Chandan, on the basis of a complaint filed by his wife R Varsha alias Inchara of Nagarabavi.
Varsha stated that her parents had spent more than Rs 80 lakh including for gifting Kishore a new sports utility vehicle, costing Rs 23 lakh during their marriage in Feb 2024.
“Kishore regularly beats me up with police-belt saying I should bring him Rs 10 lakh so that he can get transferred to some other station, where there will be good income. His father forces me to bring Rs 50,000 every month from my parents. Unable to bear their torture, I even tried to hang myself,” Varsha’s complaint read.
Police said they have issued notice to Kishore, directing him to appear for investigation.
