Implicated under false doping charge, claims judo player; case filed | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: Delhi Police has registered a case based on a complaint filed by an international-level judo player who alleged that he was falsely implicated in a violation of National Anti-Doping Agency‘s (Nada) rules. Mohsin Gulab Ali claimed that during a training camp in Bhopal in 2023, his food was spiked, leading to a positive test for a banned substance.
On May 11, 2024, Ali submitted the complaint at Lodhi Colony police station, stating that he had over a decade of experience representing India in judo. “I have never been involved in any untoward incident or case and have never tested positive for any banned substance in my career spanning more than a decade,” he said.
Ali told police, “From April 4 to April 8, 2023, trials were held in New Delhi for Asian Games, which I won, and I was set to represent India. To my surprise, I was called for an unusually short 10-day camp, starting from April 21, in Bhopal.” He reported to the camp, and on May 23, received an email from Nada regarding a dope test.
“I duly appeared for the test, and my A and B samples were collected. During this period, I experienced unusual symptoms, including vomiting, nausea, body pain, neck pain and weakness, for which the camp doctor prescribed medication, as recorded in the dispensary’s records,” Ali explained.
The complainant told police that at the time, he did not suspect that his food was spiked as part of a conspiracy, causing his illness. On June 20, 2023, his A sample tested positive for an anabolic agent, a substance included on World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list. He alleged that the test results were the result of a deliberate sabotage and his food was tampered with. The complaint also included serious allegations of long-term harassment, threats and career sabotage.
After filing the complaint, Ali moved court, and subsequently, a case was filed on May 1, 2025, following the court’s order, under sections of criminal conspiracy and causing hurt by means of poison, etc.
