BHOPAL: A man was run over by his own car in a freak accident in MP’s Chhatarpur district in the wee hours of Saturday.
The victim, 40-year-old Raghavendra Singh Sengar, was a resident of Garhi Malhera town, 350km from Bhopal. He had driven his wife, Jyoti Sengar, to a doctor on Lugasi Road around 3am after she complained of stomach pain late at night.
Raghavendra parked the car on a slope but inadvertently left the engine running when he got out to knock on the door of the clinic. He also forgot to deploy the handbrake and the car began rolling, say police. On seeing this, Raghavendra frantically sprinted after the car to stop it.
However, his foot slipped, and tragically, he fell under the wheels of the moving vehicle. The car ran over his chest. Family members rushed Raghavendra to the district hospital, but he was declared dead by doctors upon arrival. Police are investigating the death and are waiting for the post-mortem report.
