New Delhi: Providing better facilities and empowering divyang people are on the priority list of Delhi govt, social welfare minister minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said on Wednesday while inspecting the proposed site for a shelter home for mentally challenged people in Narela’s Marmurpur.
The social welfare department has proposed the shelter home on a 9-acre plot in Marmurpur. During the inspection, officials from the revenue and public works departments and architects, along with other officials concerned, were present at the site.
Singh directed officials to demarcate the land to ensure it is free from all problems and to remove encroachments, if any, at the site.
The minister said chief minister Rekha Gupta recently inspected Asha Kiran Home in Rohini and issued instructions to expedite the renovation of the existing shelter homes and the construction of new buildings. Singh directed officials to coordinate effectively and take all necessary steps.
The proposed home will help in the decongestion of the existing facilities by providing a new residential complex for the disadvantaged sections in the society while keeping their requirements like adequate sunlight, sensory park and accessibility in mind.
Singh instructed that the design of the building should be inclusive and ensure ease of living, accessibility, adequate sunlight, etc. He also directed that the campus should include sensory parks and open spaces to create a comfortable and supportive environment.
