NEET probe: NMC cancels admission of 14 students, orders suspension of 26 more | Delhi News – The Times of India

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has taken decisive action against malpractice in medical admissions, suspending 26 MBBS students implicated in the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak based on CBI inputs.

NEW DELHI: Cracking down on malpractice in medical admissions, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has ordered the immediate suspension of 26 MBBS students found complicit in the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak and cancelled the admission of 14 others for the 2024-25 academic year, an official source said on Thursday.
The action follows inputs from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the alleged irregularities in the pan-India entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
As part of the ongoing probe, the NTA has also debarred 42 students from appearing for NEET-UG in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Nine other candidates have been barred from the 2025 and 2026 sessions. Meanwhile, the candidature of 215 aspirants has been put on hold pending investigation.
“Given the severity of these violations and their potential to undermine the credibility of the medical education system, the National Medical Commission has issued directives to the concerned medical colleges and institutions to immediately suspend the 26 MBBS students,” the source said.
The NMC reiterated its “zero-tolerance” stance on academic fraud and assured strict steps to uphold integrity and transparency in medical admissions.
The move comes just days before NEET-UG 2025, scheduled to be held on May 4.
