Night cleaning begins at Sarojini Nagar market | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) started night-time cleaning at Sarojini Nagar market on Friday night, marking the third market to receive this service.
Following its successful implementation at Khan Market and Janpath Market, the wet cleaning operations at Sarojini Nagar will now be carried out regularly during night hours, informed NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Chahal on Saturday.
The civic body plans to implement this cleaning initiative across all primary markets and residential areas under its jurisdiction over the next three months. Friday’s campaign saw the participation of representatives from the Bapu Market Traders’ Association, Sarojini Nagar Vegetable Market Traders’ Association, many shopkeepers, senior officials from the health and civil engineering departments of NDMC, and council sanitation workers.
“Sarojini Nagar is one of Delhi’s busiest markets. Thousands of people visit this area every day. Cleanliness here will not only benefit customers and shopkeepers but will also enhance the overall image,” Chahal said. He was also present at the drive and later said that NDMC aims to provide a clean and hygienic environment to the thousands of visitors who come to Sarojini Nagar Market. In view of this, the cleaning operation was from 11 pm to 3 am, beginning with dry cleaning and followed by wet cleaning.
