
New Delhi: Delhi Police busted a sex racket operating in Paharganj, rescuing 23 women and girls, including three minors and 10 foreign nationals, police said on Sunday. The operation led to the arrest of seven individuals involved in trafficking.
“The operation was conducted on March 20 after extensive surveillance revealed an organised trafficking network,” said DCP (central) M. Harsha Vardhan. “Our teams, based on intelligence inputs, identifed and raided multiple locations simultaneously.”
Police said, the accused were bringing girls from West Bengal, Nepal, and other regions to Delhi, housing them at a location in Main Bazar, Paharganj, before sending them to various hotels for prostitution. “Police deployed decoy customers at suspected hotels and conducted raids at multiple locations,” a senior police officer said.
The seven arrested individuals were identified as Nurshed Alam (21) and Mohammad Rahul Alam (22) from Kishan Ganj, Bihar; Abdul Mannan (30) from Dinaj Pur, West Bengal; Taushif Rexa from Kishan Ganj, Bihar; Shamim Alam (29) from Kishan Ganj, Bihar; Md. Jarul (26) from Kishan Ganj, Bihar; and Monish (26) from Basti Khwaja, Kamala Market, New Delhi.
