New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday said ‘Utkal Divas (Odisha Day)’ will be celebtated every year in the national capital and her govt is committed to work for the welfare of around 15 lakh Odias living here.
Speaking at the Odisha Day celebrations, she said after BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years her first visit to a shrine was the Jagannath temple in Puri. “I was informed during the temple tour that Maa Vimala is the custodian of Jagannath temple. This simply shows how no other state can match with Odisha when it comes to women empowerment… Delhi is the best example of ‘Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat’ where people from all parts of India reside,” she said.
The Utkal Divas celebration in Delhi was attended by Odisha CM Mohan Majhi, two Union ministers — Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jual Oram — and P K Mishra, principal secretary to PM Narendra Modi.
Lauding Gupta and BJP’s performance in the national capital, Majhi said, “This is a coincidence that our (BJP’s) govt has been formed in Odisha for the first time and we have come to power in Delhi almost after 27 years. We are confident that with the blessings of Lord Jagannath and the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, both states will scale the heights of development.”
Mishra said that Delhi will excel under the new CM’s leadership who is focusing on infrastructure development and cleaning of Yamuna, which the city waited for long.
