RSS Chief Urges For Unity At ABVP Event | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that even if there are “various languages, states, castes, ideologies and sects, recognising that we are one country is the key to moving forward”.
He was speaking on Tuesday at the inauguration of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s SEIL (Student Experience in Interstate Living) office on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg. “No matter how many differences exist, we are all one when it comes to the nation,” he added.
The office, named Yashwant, honours the legacy of Yashwant Rao Kelkar, who conceptualised the SEIL programme. “This office, inaugurated in the centenary year of Kelkar, stands as a symbol of the student organisation’s dedication. In moments of joy, we must not forget the journey and purpose that brought us here,” he said.
Bhagwat emphasised that if any organisation is overlooked, it risks altering its character and direction. “As an organisation expands, it demands more resources. When it becomes integral to a nation’s life, it requires a diverse range of resources. Every organisation has a soul and a body,” he said. He made the remarks at a gathering that had Union ministers and BJP functionaries.
Noting that the younger generation holds the potential to offer alternative models of progress, Bhagwat said: “We must shape the future of our nation with a fully de-colonised mindset. Our actions and experiments must be based on this foundation. The youth have the energy to build the nation and the capability to work towards it. What they need is direction and knowledge, which can only be achieved through unity.”
Bhagwat also spoke of the central role students play in education. While teachers are vital, he noted, the true force driving the system is the students themselves. “Their relentless efforts over the years earned them the support to build an office of this significance. The student organisation mirrors the unity of an ocean formed by countless droplets — each student contributing to a greater whole,” he said.
The organisation’s journey was not without challenges, Bhagwat said. “When they first envisioned a national framework for students, there were doubts. Some feared that extinguishing the light of unity would lead to darkness. But the vision of creating a space for national thought persisted. Step by step, the organisation’s path became clearer, and as it grew, so did the students themselves. Today, ABVP is one of the largest organisations in India, with over 58 lakh members. Yet, the work is far from over,” he said.
