Salman Khan may continue to rule the hearts of his fans, but his latest release, Sikandar, hasn’t exactly set the box office on fire. With a 5 day opening week collection of Rs 90 crore, Sikandar has now become the second lowest-grossing Salman Khan film in its first week in the past ten years—only above Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which collected Rs 82.15 crore in its opening week.
Here are the 5 day net collections of Salman’s major releases in the past decade:
Tiger 3 – Rs 187.65 crore- Sultan – Rs 180.31 crore
- Tiger Zinda Hai – Rs 173.07 crore
- Bharat – Rs 150 crore
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – Rs 143.39 crore- Race 3 – Rs 130.21 crore
- Dabangg 3 – Rs 103.15 crore
- Tubelight – Rs 95.85 crore
- Sikandar – Rs 90 crore
- Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan – Rs 82.15 crore
What’s striking here is how Sikandar—a film that arrived with massive buzz, Eid release advantage, and a known commercial template—still couldn’t surpass the Rs 100 crore mark in its opening week, a benchmark that was once considered routine for Salman. With the upcoming weekend one can expect a spike in the falling numbers of Sikandar but given the strong negative word of mouth publicity of the film- only a miracle can bring out a chance in the fortune of the film. The dip in Sikandar’s fortune has helped other films like The Diplomat starring John Abraham and Chhaava with Vicky Kaushal, Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna with added time at the cinemas.
While it’s not the lowest opening of his career (that title now goes to Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan), Sikandar does mark a continued dip in Salman’s box office dominance. With evolving audience tastes and growing competition, it might be time for the superstar to pivot towards fresher narratives and stronger scripts to reclaim his throne.
