Serial offender, aides arrested for Rs 25 lakh robbery in bizman house; Rs 60 lakh stolen in separate heist | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: A man wanted in 27 criminal cases—including rape, robbery, and murder—has been arrested along with four others in connection with a house robbery in Central Delhi, where a woman was held captive and Rs 25 lakh was stolen in cash.
The main accused, Manish, along with Ayush, Rahul, Jatin (alias Bobby), and Sachin, were apprehended during coordinated raids conducted in Sudamapuri (Ghaziabad) and Haibatpur (Noida). Police said the gang barged into a businessman’s home on April 30, held a woman at gunpoint, tied her up, and decamped with the cash, leaving her locked inside. The case was registered based on the victim’s statement.
“Raids were conducted in Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar, leading to the arrest of Manish and his accomplices,” said DCP (crime) Aditya Gautam.
Police investigations revealed that Manish, the mastermind, had a personal vendetta. He was previously involved with the complainant’s brother, Jitender, in a 2018 attempted murder case. In 2024, Jitender allegedly assaulted Manish over a trivial dispute. Seeking revenge, Manish targeted the family’s residence, knowing they were in the cloth trade and often kept large sums of money at home, police said.
According to police, Manish tasked Ayush with recruiting a team. The group included Rahul, Jatin, Sachin, and one absconding accomplice. After committing the robbery, they regrouped in Haibatpur to split the stolen money. Police recovered Rs 11.45 lakh in cash from them. Jatin used part of his share—Rs 2.82 lakh—to buy a motorcycle and two mobile phones, all of which have been seized.
Manish worked as a delivery agent and had a long criminal record, while Ayush is a BA student and Jatin works as a cook.
In a separate incident, two men were arrested for robbing a businessman of Rs 60 lakh at gunpoint in Hauz Qazi on April 28. The victim was travelling on a scooter when he was intercepted and robbed by the duo.
The accused have been identified as Ravi Gupta, a B.Com graduate from Delhi University, and Amit, a school dropout. Police said the suspects were traced through Chandigarh, Zirakpur, Panchkula, and Samalkha, before being apprehended in Panipat after a 400 km pursuit.
According to police, Ravi, who previously worked for an MNC, turned to crime in search of easy money. Along with Amit and a third accomplice, Pankaj, they targeted financial transactions in Chandni Chowk and conducted multiple reconnaissance visits before executing the robbery.
