The Diplomat Box Office Collection Day 8: John Abraham starrer begins week 2 with low Rs 1.25 crore collection | – The Times of India

The John Abraham starrer The Diplomat began its second week at the box office on a slow note. The film, which made a promising start with a Rs 4 crore debut, saw its numbers dwindle to an estimated Rs 1.4 crore on its seventh day. .
As the film entered its first week with a collection of Rs 19.15 crore, it’s second Friday earning of around Rs 1.25 crore net, raised its total collection to an estimated Rs 20.40 crore, according to sacnilk.com.
The movie recorded an overall occupancy rate of 12.83%, with the lowest footfalls during morning shows and the highest during night shows at 23.97%.
The Diplomat is one of John Abraham’s lowest-earning films. According to reports, although the movie has collected just around Rs 20 crore net, it has seemingly turned out to be a profitable venture for the star, who reportedly made the film on an estimated budget of Rs 20 crore.
Ahead of the film’s release, John stated that he is not overly concerned with its box office performance, choosing instead to focus on the film’s positive reception and the importance of storytelling.
John also revealed the challenges he faced in securing a studio for The Diplomat, noting that OTT platforms rejected the film as they “didn’t find it great.” Speaking about his struggle, he said to Pinkvilla, “The loss of faith happens from the studio. So, when a studio sees a film, they may try to mitigate the risk by offering it to OTT platforms. When some OTT channels refused The Diplomat because they didn’t find it good, they rejected the film; they threw it out.”
Despite facing stiff competition from the Vicky Kaushal-led Chhaava, The Diplomat has comfortably overtaken the latest Hollywood release, Snow White, which earned just around Rs 65 lakh.
