Tragic Shooting: 20-Year-Old Sameer Killed in Delhi’s Seelampur | Delhi News – The Times of India

NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old man was shot dead late Sunday night in the Seelampur area of Northeast Delhi.
Cops are probing whether the motive behind the killing was linked to a personal dispute involving a girl with whom the deceased reportedly had a friendship. Preliminary suspicions point to the involvement of two individuals in the fatal shooting.
According to officials, police received a PCR call at approximately 11.40pm on Sunday reporting gunshots fired in J-Block, Seelampur. The caller, the father of the victim, informed cops that his 20-year-old son was shot.
When personnel reached the crime scene, they learned that the victim—identified as Sameer, a resident of K-Block in the same area—was already transported to a nearby hospital by locals. Unfortunately, upon arrival at the hospital, doctors confirmed that Sameer succumbed to his injuries and was declared “brought dead.”
In response to the incident, teams from the Crime and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were dispatched to the location for a thorough inspection of the scene. Senior police officials were also present to supervise the investigation and coordinate initial procedures.
A senior police officer shared that early findings suggest a possible motive rooted in a personal dispute.
“Sameer used to talk to a girl, which allegedly caused tension between him and another youth who was also friends with the same girl. This may have led to an altercation and possibly escalated to the shooting. We are actively probing this angle,” the officer said.
The youth was sitting outside his grandparents’ house and was checking his phone when he was shot.
The Delhi Police have registered a case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), initiating a full-fledged investigation into the matter.
“Multiple teams have been formed and deployed to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in this heinous act. We are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to trace the movements and escape routes of the accused,” police said.
