Transport businessman’s charred body found in burning car near Delhi’s Bijwasan flyover | Delhi News – The Times of India

NEW DELHI: A 42-year-old transport businessman’s charred body was found in a burning car near the Bijwasan Road flyover in Delhi on Monday night.
The victim, identified as Sandeep from Palam Vihar in Gurugram, was returning home from his office in R K Puram when his Toyota Glanza caught fire.
The Fire Department received an alert at 10.32 pm on Monday about the car engulfed in flames. Two fire tenders were dispatched and successfully extinguished the fire by 11.20 pm.
“Upon extinguishing the fire, officials discovered an unidentified charred body inside the vehicle,” officials said.
The Kapashera police station received a call about the incident at 10:25 pm on Tuesday. “On receipt of the call, a team was immediately rushed to the spot and found that one car Toyota Glanza has caught fire,” the police statement read.
Initial investigation revealed that the car was traveling from Bijwasan Flyover towards Dwarka Expressway when it suddenly caught fire, and the driver could not escape.
“From the registration details, the family members were called on the spot and the deceased was later identified as Sandeep, a resident of Palam Vihar area in Gurugram,” the statement continued.
Sandeep operated a taxi transport business in R K Puram and was on his way home when the incident occurred.
The Forensic Science Laboratory team was called to the scene, and the body was transferred to a mortuary. Police are reviewing CCTV footage to understand the sequence of events.
