Two die, one injured in separate hit & run incidents | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: In a hit-and-run incident, a 73-year-old man lost his life, and another sustained injuries after a speeding SUV hit their scooty near east Delhi’s Akshardham on Saturday.
“The victims, identified as Shyam Chand (73) and Suraj Mal Verma (67), were heading towards Shamshan Ghat when the accident occurred around 3.30 am. Both were rushed to a hospital, where Shyam Chand was declared dead on arrival,” a senior police officer said. “Shyam Chand was a retired employee of DTC.” Following an alert from the hospital, police initiated an investigation, registered a case, and are working to trace the vehicle and its driver. In another case, a 56-year-old woman lost her life in a hit-and-run accident when a speeding truck collided with the tractor she was riding near Narela on Thursday. According to police, the truck, coming from Bawana, was being driven recklessly in a zig-zag manner when it rammed into the tractor carrying workers towards Narela around 3 am. The impact injured several workers, who were rushed to a hospital, where Rani Devi (56) succumbed to her injuries.
Police registered a case. An investigation is underway. TNN
