Video captures terrifying moment earthquake jolts rooftop pool with people in it in Thailand – The Times of India

A strong earthquake struck Myanmar and neighbouring Thailand on Friday, causing severe damage to buildings. In Myanmar, at least 1,000 people have died, with photos and videos showing extensive destruction in multiple cities. In Thailand, at least eight people were killed in Bangkok after a high-rise building under construction collapsed.
The powerful tremors triggered panic as buildings swayed, and water spilled from rooftop pools. Videos shared on social media showed the impact of the quake, with cars shaking and people running onto the streets in fear.
A video, reportedly from a high-rise in Bangkok, showed people in a rooftop swimming pool as the earthquake caused the water to move back and forth before forcefully spilling over the edge of the building.
Another video, posted by Shanghai Daily, captured a similar scene of water cascading from a rooftop pool in Bangkok as the buildings swayed due to the tremors.
A separate video, possibly from China, showed the moments before and after a rooftop pool in the earthquake-affected area emptied onto the streets.
An Instagram user Travis Leon Price shared his experience of escaping from the 40th floor of a skyscraper during the earthquake. “I was all the way on the 40th floor, and the room was swaying from side to side,” Price said.
“Then I looked out of the balcony and saw water splashing over the edge,” he added. Realizing the situation, he decided to evacuate and took the emergency stairs, which took him 20 minutes to reach the ground floor.
Another video captured cars shaking on the road during the earthquake, while buildings across Myanmar suffered damage.
