Video | Kerala Chief Secy: My Children Helped Me See That Black Was Awesome

Kerala Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan has boldly addressed the deep-seated prejudice against dark skin. With courage and conviction, she shared her personal experiences of battling colourism, revealing how her tenure in office has been marred by constant comparisons to her husband, former Chief Secretary V. Venu.

These comparisons, she says, are not new – they’ve been part of her life since childhood, where insecurity over her complexion caused emotional distress.

She has embraced the dark skin colour but what helped her to get over her complexes were her children. In exclusive conversation with Marya Shakil Kerala Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan talks about her battle with discrimination based on colour and gender.
