When Rashmika Mandanna spoke about being trolled for Karwa Chauth scene in Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’: ‘Everyone on set liked it but…’ | – The Times of India

When the Animal trailer dropped, Rashmika Mandanna’s fiery dialogue delivery in the now-iconic Karwa Chauth scene became instant troll fodder. Social media was flooded with criticism, questioning her acting skills. But once the film hit theaters, the tables turned—what was once mocked became one of the most talked-about moments in the movie.
Rashmika Mandanna’s Response to the Backlash
Rashmika Mandanna finally addressed the trolling surrounding the Karwa Chauth scene on No Filter Neha. She revealed that the backlash after the trailer’s release made her question herself, but the film’s success ultimately changed the narrative.Behind the Scenes of the Karwa Chauth Scene
Rashmika Mandanna shared that the Karwa Chauth scene was a nine-minute-long sequence, which had received applause from the crew on set. However, after the trailer’s release, a single dialogue from the scene led to heavy trolling. This made her question whether she was living in a bubble, unsure if audiences would actually appreciate the full scene once the film released.
Rashmika emphasized that she never wants to live in a bubble. She believes in staying grounded, engaging with people, and understanding real perspectives rather than being isolated from public opinion.

Defending the Film’s Narrative
When asked about the film being labeled misogynistic and problematic by critics, Rashmika defended it, stating that the story revolves around a single character. She explained that he is deeply troubled and would go to any extent for his father, emphasizing that the film’s raw and real nature demanded such storytelling.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal became a blockbuster despite the criticism, and it raked in more than Rs 900 crore worldwide. The film ended with a promise of a sequel called Animal Park, and Rashmika will return to play her role.
