With cattle blocking her way, CM takes to road to assess situation | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta‘s convoy halted for nearly 15 minutes on the Haiderpur flyover in northwest Delhi on Wednesday afternoon after a group of cattle strayed on the road.
The chief minister stepped out of her car to check on the animals. She was seen having a discussion with her officials over the issue and taking a round of the road on foot. Her security personnel later intervened and ensured that the cattle were safely moved aside. A senior Delhi govt official later said that Gupta issued instructions to the development department to provide shelter for the stray cattle in the area. The official added that the CM also directed work on a policy for shifting stray cattle from across the city to shelters.
Delhi govt has allocated Rs 40 crore in the budget for 2025-26 for establishing a ‘model gaushala‘, which will come up in Ghumanhera village in southwest Delhi. The cow shelter will be equipped with modern facilities aimed at cow protection, improving milk production, and providing veterinary care. The announcement was made by Gupta while presenting the budget for the upcoming financial year.
