New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Crime Branch arrested three men for operating an illegal Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket from a rented flat in Dwarka Sector-11. The arrests were made during a raid conducted amid a live match between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings.
“The police team raided the premises during a live IPL match and seized laptops, mobile phones, notebooks, and other gadgets used to manage real-time bets,” said DCP (Crime) Harsh Indora.
The accused were identified as Himanshu Gulati (49), Amit Kumar (32), and Amit Makol (43), all residents of Delhi. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Delhi Public Gambling Act.
During questioning, the trio admitted to running a structured online betting syndicate. Himanshu, the alleged mastermind, managed communications with punters using a microphone and speaker, announcing live odds. He operated a Dell laptop with iAssistant software to log bets. Amit Kumar updated wagers in real time on a separate HP laptop, while Amit Makol maintained manual records and operated a betting app named “Supreme”, projecting odds on a connected LED screen.
Police recovered three laptops, nine mobile phones, two notebooks, a TV screen, a router, and a speaker from the flat. The premises, rented under the name of Ankur Jindal, was used solely for betting operations.
Officials said further investigation is underway to identify additional members of the racket.
