New Delhi: The city’s air quality remained in the moderate category on Monday, with an AQI reading of of 160 (on a scale of 0 to 500), against 138 on the previous day. According to the air quality early warning system, the city is expected to experience a moderate AQI for the next six days.
The Commission for Air Quality Management reported that March 2025 recorded the best average AQI in Delhi at 170, compared to the average AQI for the month in previous years: 223 in 2021, 217 in 2022, 170 in 2023, and 176 in 2024. The average AQI for the Jan-March quarter this year was the best in the past five years. Notably, the quarter did not experience a single day with an AQI above 400, whereas there were 6, 1, 3, and 3 such days in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, respectively.
“Aided by favourable meteorological conditions and efforts by various stakeholders, these positive results have been achieved. Continued efforts will focus on further improving Delhi’s air quality in the coming days. CAQM is working closely with various stakeholders to implement effective measures for the prevention, control, and abatement of air pollution to enhance air quality in the NCR,” stated CAQM. Meanwhile, as the cool northwesterly winds subside, daytime temperatures across the city are on the rise. The weather department predicts that the city is likely to experience higher maximum temperatures due to warm and dry conditions. TNN
