New Delhi: Leader of the opposition Atishi alleged on Friday that BJP govt inflated all the numbers in its first budget and questioned where the funds for the Rs 1 lakh crore budget for 2025-26 would come from.
The former CM claimed Delhi’s actual revenue from all sources was going to be just about Rs 78,000 crore. She added that govt’s claim to collect Rs 68,700 crore in taxes was also inflated and the amount would not go beyond Rs 63,000 crore.
“For the first time in history, the budget’s figures have been laced with so many falsehoods. BJP-led Delhi govt neither has Rs 1 lakh crore in revenue nor can it generate such an amount,” Atishi alleged.
Atishi said BJP govt estimated a 20% increase in tax revenue from the previous year while central govt’s economic survey projected GDP growth at just 6.5%. “This is some miraculous economics that only BJP can conjure up,” she said.
Later in the assembly, Atishi, along with other AAP MLAs, was marshalled out by speaker Vijender Gupta for allegedly disrupting Question Hour. They carried posters and pamphlets on why BJP govt had not given women Rs 2,500 monthly yet. While minister Parvesh Verma replied that a four-member committee was formed to implement the scheme and the eligibility guidelines would be formed soon, AAP MLAs continued to protest. Gupta said they wanted to avoid participating in a debate on the CAG report on DTC.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said AAP was continuing to mislead the public by making statements on the same issue every day.
