Delhi government forms quick response team for tree pruning during monsoon | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: Delhi govt’s home department has constituted a quick response team (QRT) for pruning of tree branches and removal of fallen trees during pre-monsoon and monsoon period.
Many trees fall or branches are uprooted during intense rain accompanied by strong winds in the rainy season.
“Following a meeting held on March 18, under the chairmanship of chief secretary, and with the objective of timely pruning of tree branches and removal of fallen trees during pre-monsoon/monsoon, a QRT team comprising revenue, NDMC, MCD, forest and Discom officials was formed. The team will work on 24×7 basis in three shifts, under the aegis of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in each one of the revenue district,” said the order of home department. It added that it will remain effective till Sept 15.
Among the responsibilities of QRT are undertaking preventive measures like pruning of trees, removal of dead or rotting trees and branches that could fall and cause injury or damage and disconnect power lines during severe thunderstorms, etc.
“The DDMA concerned shall arrange for necessary tools and equipment to ensure that each QRT shall have a dedicated vehicle equipped with necessary tools and tree cutting machines, lifting equipment, Safety gear and protective equipment, Communication devices and navigation tools etc. as may be required,” said the order.
