NEW DELHI: Delhi Police arrested two men involved in a cricket betting racket operating in the city. The duo was using an application to run the illegal operation.
The accused were identified as Rohit Kumar, 23, a resident of Fazilka, Punjab, and his associate Tejender Singh, 34, who resides in Narela.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan said they received information on April 8 about an individual in Swatantra Nagar, Narela, who was organising illegal betting on IPL cricket matches for several days.
A police team conducted a raid at an office and found the two men engaged in live betting activities during an IPL 20-20 match via an application.
Rohit was found making handwritten entries related to betting transactions, while Tejender was operating a communication device (commonly known as a “dabba phone”) connected to several mobile phones.
