New Delhi: Delhi Teachers University, currently operating from a temporary campus in Mukherjee Nagar’s Outram Lines, is preparing for a move to a permanent home in Narela.
Three years after its establishment in 2022 by the then Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi govt, the university recently received a significant boost: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) allotted 12.5 acres of land for its new campus, as per officials.
Preparations are underway, and while the university awaits official possession of the land, plans for the new campus are already beginning to take shape. “The upcoming campus will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and built with a focus on environmental sustainability,” an official said.
Currently, Delhi Teachers University offers two flagship programmes — a two-year MA in education and a four-year BA (honours) in education, both aligned with the New Education Policy. However, the limited infrastructure at the temporary site has constrained academic growth, the officials pointed out. The new campus will allow the university to expand its offerings, with plans to introduce programmes such as BEd, MEd, and MA in psychology.
“We will request the appointment of a construction agency. Our vision is to create a modern, eco-conscious academic institution that meets the evolving demands of teacher education,” said a university official.
