Prithviraj Sukumaran hints at Telugu remake of L2: Empuraan with Salman Khan and Chiranjeevi: ‘I know for a fact that…’ | – The Times of India

Prithviraj recently opened up about the possibility of L2: Empuran Telugu remake starring Salman Khan and Chiranjeevi.
In conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Prithviraj shared his thoughts on the possibility of a Telugu remake of L2: Empuraan in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble. He mentioned that the film is already set for a major Telugu release in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana through Sri Venkateswara Creations, making a remake uncertain.
Open to a Remake with the Right Filmmaker
Prithviraj expressed his openness to a remake, stating that he would be happy if a filmmaker took on the project. He acknowledged that many talented filmmakers could do justice to the story, potentially even better than himself.
About L2: Empuraan
L2: Empuraan, released on March 27, 2025, is the much-awaited sequel to the 2019 Malayalam action thriller Lucifer. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy, the film follows Stephen Nedumpally, aka Khureshi Ab’raam, played by Mohanlal. The star-studded cast includes Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, and international actors Jerome Flynn and Eriq Ebouaney.

Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s film L2: Empuraan has set a new benchmark in the Malayalam film industry, achieving a remarkable ₹9.19 crore in box office collections by 2 PM on its opening day. This surpasses the previous record held by The Goat Life, which collected ₹8.95 crore on its first day. The film’s advance bookings were also impressive, nearing ₹20 crore, indicating a potential end-of-day total of at least ₹30 crore. L2: Empuraan is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer and features a star-studded cast, including international actors. Notably, it is the first Malayalam film to be released in IMAX and EPIQ formats, enhancing the cinematic experience for audiences.
