Bollywood’s beloved ‘Mast Mast’ girl, Raveena Tandon, recently shared a delightful backstory about the chartbuster ‘Kar Gayi Chull‘ from the 2016 film ‘Kapoor & Sons’. This peppy number, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra, became an instant party anthem, but not everyone knows about the special nod it gives to ‘Mohra’ actress herself.
The music and choreography are a total banger, but it’s the hook step to ‘Matak matak jaise Raveena Tandon’ that truly steals the show.
When Karan Johar called Raveena
Before the song hit the airwaves, producer Karan Johar felt it was only right to get Raveena’s blessing to mention her in the lyrics. Raveena recounted on ‘Indian Idol 15′ how Karan approached her, “Honestly, I didn’t know it was going to happen like this. I remember Karan called, and we were already huge fans of him (Badshah). I used to listen to all his raps; they were so cool. So, Karan said he wanted my permission to use my name in the song. I said, ‘How sweet! Of course, use it.’ But then he said, pehle Anil Thadani (Raveena’s husband) ka kya hoga. Wo mujhe marega toh nahi? Tu Pehle Anil se pooch le if it’s okay to use your name”
Raveena’s name fit the song’s vibe better, leading to the now-famous line, “Kya naache tu Dilli, hile hai London; Matak-matak, jaise Raveena Tandon.
In another clip shared on social media, Raveena is seen dancing to her popular track ‘Kabhi Tu Chhalia Lagta Hai’ from the 1991 film ‘Patthar Ke Phool’, which featured Salman Khan. Her energetic performance brings back nostalgic vibes from the early ’90s, much to the audience’s delight.
On the work front, Raveena was last seen in the romantic comedy ‘Ghudchadi’, which premiered on 9 August 2024. Directed by Binoy Gandhi, the film features Sanjay Dutt, Parth Samthaan, and Khushalii Kumar in key roles.
