
New Delhi: An 18-year-old woman, a vagabond, was allegedly sexually assaulted by a rickshaw-puller in southeast Delhi’s Amar Colony. The accused has been arrested.On May 5, police received a call about a woman being beaten up by a man near Moolchand metro station. “The caller was not present when a police team reached the location. However, when contacted on phone, he said he witnessed a man, a rickshaw-puller, beating up a woman. He called police for the woman’s safety and then left,” police said. Subsequently, some passersby brought both to the police station and reported the same sequence of events.The woman, who only spoke Bengali, alleged sexual assault by the man. “He admitted to having physical relations with her on the night of May 4,” police said. The survivor underwent a medical examination at AIIMS. Following her complaint and the doctor’s opinion, a rape case was registered, and the accused, who pedals a rickshaw near the metro station, was arrested. TNN
