Tender issued for Lajpat Nagar to Saket G corridor | Delhi News – The Times of India

New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation issued a tender worth Rs 456 crore for the partial design and construction of a 7.3km viaduct along the upcoming Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor. This stretch forms an extension of Golden Line, connecting the upcoming Tughlaqabad-Aerocity corridor.
The section has eight stations, with the tender covering platform construction for seven stations. The eighth station, Saket G Block, is currently under construction as part of phase IV and will be an interchange facility. The corridor will provide an important connectivity boost in south Delhi. The construction must be completed within 36 months of the tender being awarded to a party.
The corridor will pass through Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, GK-I, Chirag Dilli, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket Court, Pushpa Vihar and Saket G Block. Though only about 7km in length, the corridor will have three interchange stations at Saket G Block (with Golden Line), Chirag Dilli (with Magenta), and Lajpat Nagar (with Violet and Pink). Lajpat Nagar will also emerge as south Delhi’s first triple interchange facility, providing a major boost for the nearby market.
Since Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block will be the second smallest corridor in DMRC’s network, Delhi Metro will run India’s first three-coach train corridor on this stretch to facilitate short-distance urban travel. TNN
